The Round Mounds of Beatdown!

That’s Right, I Just Updated The Front Page

September 29, 2009

Hey gang…it’s been a while, so I thought, what the hell…I’ll update the front page. And while I’m at it, I’ll try to do some of what I created this site for in the first place, back in the day. So, for your amusement and general improvement…I’ve added a Zendikar Sealed Pool. Just click the link that says Sealed Pools on the right hand side and it will take you there. For now, I’m going to do them this way, but if some of you would like to have the Magic Workstation file then I can post those too. Just let me know.

I’d love to see some Fatmen headed to lovely San Diego. What say we figure this format out?

…and Q again!

December 28, 2008

Congratulations to Clay Gillette, who won the St. Louis PTQ for Kyoto. Congrats also to Brad Conard, who went undefeated in the Swiss to make Top 8.

Great job, guys!

Q!

December 23, 2008

Chuck Gabbert qualified for QT-Kyoto at a PTQ in Springfield. Congrats, Chuck! Let’s all see what we can do to get Chuck ready for a little Standard in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Draft-a-Thon This Weekend, Regionals Upcoming June 7th

May 22, 2008

We’ve got a couple of events coming up gang. This Saturday, the 24th, will be the Draft-a-Thon. Those of you who have done this before know how much fun it is to draft some old format that only Mark has the boosters for. Reg at 11am, Play at Noon(ish). P.S. - Rav draft early, people. On Sunday, as a follow up, their will be a GP Trial for Indy. Sealed deck, Reg Noon, Play at 1:00pm.
In slightly bigger news, we’ve got Regionals coming up on the 7th of June. We’re back at the St. Charles Convention Center this year. Format is Standard, Reg at 9:00am, Play at 10:00am. Time to send more Fatmen to Nats.

Clayton Gillette On His Way To Nats!

April 13, 2008

Congratulations to Clay Gillette, who beat our own Doug Reed, Mike Donovan and William Brandt in the Top 8 at City Champs to qualify for Nationals this year. Any chance that this will help Clay get over Wes  from a couple of years ago? Probably not. But at least one Fatman will be storming the Castle in Chi-Town!

PTQ - Hollywood This Weekend at Fantasy Shop

January 4, 2008

The format is Extended, the potential local - Hollywood. Reg at 9am, play at 10am. I’m guessing that means breakfast at 8:30am? 9:00am? Bob Evans style? Anyway, the format is wide open, and it should be fun.

Lorwyn Catagory Added To The Forums/Hoover To Appear at PreRelease

September 10, 2007

Hey gang, been a slow Magic for Summer, so I haven’t had much to add to the front page. However, we do have a Pre Release coming up for Lorwyn on the 29th and 30th, and thanks to our very own Jason and Tina Rak we’ll be having a guest artist - Quinton Hoover. So, pop open Gatherer and find out just what you need to get signed (might want to start with your Wraths). As for Lorwyn prep, I’ve just added a Lorwyn Catagory to the Forums page, so we can start discussing cards as they pop up.

For Great Justice: Novak Going To Nats

June 10, 2007

Brian Beemer won’t be alone in Baltimore. That’s because Nick Novak won the STL Regionals yesterday. Several Fatmen were in contention late, with 4 team members at 4-1 after the fifth round. I’ll update this post with more info as I get it, but for now major congrats to Nick. Great job, Fatman!

FATMEN DANCE - Beemer going to Nats!!!

May 27, 2007

Two Dancers went to the City Champs Top 8 today, and our own Brian Beemer now has an invitation to the US Nationals. Beemer and Larry were seeded 1-2 after 4 rounds of Swiss, with Beemer facing Mike Donovan in the semis and Larry facing Brook Kennon. A series of tough draws (and a Molten Disaster for 19 that forced a draw when the win was one turn away) kept Larry from getting to the Finals. He did finish third, and claimed a 1 round bye at Regionals (that, of course, he can’t use). Brian on the other hand soundly defeated Donovan in the other semis (he went 4-0 against Donovan on the day), and then went on to defeat Brook in the Finals to capture the spot.

Great job to both the Fatmen, and a big Congrats to Beemer for Q’ing for Nats! Go get em’, Beems!
